Hi BBA
The Quake Wars guys here will know me (hiya dudes). I just wanted to ask about a possible BBA Brink Server, i.e. the next Splash Damage game. I'd like to get involved if you guys want to set up a server, and would be happy to help with the running costs or whatever. I know a lot of the QW guys and it'd be great to start a Brink thing with the QW regulars, so I guess I'm trying to find out if anyone's interested. What do you think, BBA?
For those that haven't heard about it, check out the link below.

thanks for reading

LOL
I was just about to post the link and ask about Brink for you YOHO! (after your questions)
It might help if you would fill out an ap and try to join BBA.
Personally, I'm looking forward to Brink coming out and am curious as to what Zeus will have to say.
Great to see you on the boards YOHO!
(yoho is always fun to play with and one hell of a medic/tech)
take care bud

Thanks Siss
I've never felt the need to actually join bba in order to feel the lurve, and anyway I was a relative latecomer to QW, but if there's a new project/game in the offing then I'd like to join up and get on the front line!
and thanks for your kind words

Hey Yoho, welcome to the site. Thanks Sissy for bringing this to my attention, I missed it.
We are always looking to expand out into other games, just hasnt been all that many that have done much for awhile now.
As far as servers go, we dont rent per slot games from GSP's we run our own dedicated servers out of major datacenters with huge backbones.
Currently out of NYC and Dallas Texas.
The game is still quite aways away from scheduled release so I'll use your link and look it over, if they are going to give proper support to clans and groups running their servers and we have enough interest in it, we would definitely be interested in hosting.
Any updates or info you get on it, keep us posted. _________________

Looks like Brink is in trouble..........with the expected release date.
It was supposed to be released this year...
But if you need a job one of these might be for you.
From Splashdamage website:
We are currently looking to bring aboard additional talent to join our development team at our offices near London, England. Click on a position to learn more about it:
Art & Media
* Environment Artist
Programming
* Gameplay Programmer
* Platform Optimisation Programmer
* UI Programmer
* Xbox 360 Renderer Programmer

And I was looking forward to the release...
But there is still hope! ID's Rage will be out this year. yeah right. _________________ I'm ready for some FOOTBALL.

Got some bitchin' updates!
Hundreds of gamers were able to play some Brink goodness at the recent gamescom 2010 in Cologne. Read one players' first hand impression:
http://kotaku.com/5617291/brink-is-the-breakthrough-that-makes-2011-feel-so-far-away
Here is an excerpt:
| Quote: | A year ago, this is what Paul Wedgwood, head of Brink development studio Splash Damage told me: "The buzz you get from coordinated team play is beyond and above just about every other experience that you can have as a video gamer."
Brink could do that, he told me. Brink could make me feel the glory of team-based greatness. I guess it would be like becoming a member of the A-Team after feeling for so many years playing online shooters like the bad guys the A-Team shot.
Brink is supposed to enable anyone, even bad gamers, to get that experience that normally only an elite Team Fortress 2 player might have, an experience of slick coordination in which everyone knows their role and slickly performs it. That bad player might as well have been me. And a year after Wedgwood told me Brink could deliver that opportunity, I tried the game — and — he was right.
Brink, ingeniously, works. |
Here is another impression:

On a personal note: | Quote: | | (xp award that)..lets you toss and then shoot grenades |
HELL YEAH! |

For those of you locked in a closet for the last week (you know who you are ;) ), PAX is in full swing right now.
Here is some hands-on grindage at the Brink booth:
http://www.gamesradar.com/xbox360/brink/preview/brink-pax-2010-hands-on/a-20100903153935859007/g-2009052911331493062
| Quote: | | One of my abilities as on Operative was to disguise myself as a downed enemy, which I managed to pull off once to great effect. Other than that, I spent most of my time trying to slide tackle people (it's really fun!), and playing with my gun (ha ha). The hit detection is spot on, and the weapons seem very well-balanced. I never felt cheated out of a kill, and it's definitely not a five-hundred-bullets-per-kill sort of game. The loading tip was right: Move more than you shoot. Stand still and you're just asking to die. |
| Quote: | | Most of the guns available were assault rifles and SMGs, but I'm sure their distinctions would have been clear had I more time to study their stats (which there were plenty of). I chose an assault rifle that looked suitibly awesome, and attached a grip for extra stability (though it increased the time it took for me to whip it out, which is always something to consider, amirite?) |
| Quote: | | The parkour system (SMART) was instantly masterable. Hold down a button, run, jump over things - you know the deal. It's not as deep as Assassin's Creed, but it gets the job done - the game's about shooting, not climbing walls. And it got even better when I figured out that pressing 'crouch' while running performed a forward slide which knocked down enemies. I wish someone had done it to me, just so I could have known what it looked like to see a beatnik-bearded man-train sprint toward you, disappear under your legs, and knock you over, all while spraying rifle fire in your face. |
