Yep different game and probably another $50 for a canned/pressed/extruded reskin with a couple horrible ideas thrown in.

The game will be set in the Southern United States, starting in Savannah, Georgia and ending up in New Orleans, Louisiana.[2] Four new survivors will be introduced, with their backstory provided by hints dropped in the game. The survivors include Coach, a high-school football coach, Rochelle, a reporter for a local cable company, Ellis, a boy mechanic, and Nick, a gambler and conman.

The game will feature five new episodes.[2] In addition to the infected from the previous game, there will be new classes; one is the Charger, a being that is able to temporarily stun the survivors by body-charging them. Existing types will have some modifications, including zombies that are immune to fire, and the Wandering Witch that roams the level until disturbed by the players.[2]

New melee weapons will be introduced, including a frying pan, an axe, baseball bat, and chainsaw, as well as updates to the existing weapons.[2] The AI Director has been improved to encourage more participation by players, forcing players through difficult gauntlets to reach an extraction point, and the ability to alter elements of the level.[2] The AI Director will also be improved to reward players for taking longer or more difficult paths through each episode by providing more useful equipment, such as incendiary ammo, along these riskier paths.

Development for Left 4 Dead 2 started after the release of the first game, building off ideas from the development team to make the next game "bigger and better".

"But let's not bother fixing all the bad parts of the previous one since everyone will buy the new one which also will never be complete."
Wandering witch is interesting, everything else seems either blah or awful.

It's possible this is one of valves crazy jokes that it uses for some games (I know there were a couple for tf2) as some of it just looks too stupid for someone to actually want to put out. Then again it's possible that valve has officially become EA. puke

Not that disasters in marketing and dev are anything new to gaming, but 30 seconds of reading in the Steam forums tells you this deal will probably kill the whole dam L4D franchise, divide the community with the 2 versions, modding, mapping, etc, not to mention you can forget updates or add ons for the $50 you spent on the original.....

This is what you get Valve for getting into bed with Microsoft.

The only thing they forgot to list in the new additions to L4D 2 is the "Valve Hunter", "nom nom nom, I'm eating your money" mad

LOL, I JUST started playing L4D1 and it couldn't be that old yet. Maybe you could even say it became the new Call of Duty, 1 per year with sub-par quality...or UIUT, Under the Influence of Unreal Tournament...L4D 2009, L4D 2010, L4D 2011...


I admit it looks even more grossly bloody than the 1st, with the Axe and all, but one thing that bothers me is when the player's Axe hit their teammate, it said "Don't shoot teammates!", you cannot shoot with a normal Axe...Hey so I'm meticulous not my fault haha!

Perhaps this video explains the rage a little bit better.

Also, there's a group against the game (or atleast against the crap Valve's doing) that was started on the 1st, and it's already 10k+ members lol (am one).

Of course for it to work in l4d1 it can't take advantage of any of the new stuff in l4d2, so why would they develop it for the first.
...of course if they develop it with the new features from the second, it won't be back compatible with the first...

Absolutely their supporting it, they gave us the SDK didnt they? Oh that was simply for self support reasons.... you know their reaching when their counting on user based releases to keep the game going. mad

More comments coming out from Upper Valve guys, funny how they all seem to focus on the SDK and self user support.......

They must have signed up every person they could find to help moderate their forums and lock/delete all the negative threads, hopefully the gaming masses will actually stay standing up for themselves and not simply roll over, but I doubt it very much. roll

Lol yea the boycott group's now at 18k+, will likely be around 20k by the end of the night, interested to see how big it gets as it's gonna be that big in a weeks time. Goals have gone from rage to much more logical so we shall see.

Therefore, we - the members of this Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott - promise to abstain from the purchase of Left 4 Dead 2 until our requests are addressed.

It's still just crap that they had people working on this game so early after the last came out instead of people to actually work on fixes/content for the first. That and they didn't put out the sdk until this late in the game, they didn't want people to be able to create better content for this game and/or they were going to wait until the second game was mostly finished so they could make it functional with the second game. Either way is bs.

It's like watching ID/Activision all over again with etqw, let's see how we can kill a game/community.

I feel sorry for you L4D players.

I understand your compassion and desire to have a better game and more players....

I hope the boycott works.. but I don't imagine they will abandon their financial game plan at this point.

Personally, I think ETQW is the best game I have ever played, but I would really enjoy new maps and support.

So, trust me, I am with you, and will wait for the outcome.

Fingers crossed for the boycott everyone!
